A student ambassador or an adult chaperone will be your house guest, check students activity link on calendar page for dates.
We encourage host families to pick up their students at their arriving flights. LSCA board members will be there as well, so they can pick up your student if it is impossible for you to do so.
A translator will be assigned for every 3 students. This person will meet with the students upon their arrival for an orientation and will be on call to help you at all times. At the host family meeting, you will be provided with a list of helpful phrases, and ideas to help with the cultural differences.
Although students do not need a private bedroom, we do require that they have their own bed. Host families are expected to provide breakfast daily, sack lunches on most days, and dinners, except at the LSCA evening functions. Host families will be given a stipend for approximately two weeks after departure to help defray the expenses of hosting.
Host families are expected to deliver and pick up students from the daily activities at our pick-up point at Roosevelt Park. If you are unable to do so, you can make arrangements with other host families to pick up your student. A master list of host families will be provided.
Students and adult chaperones will have activities daily from approximately 9AM to 5PM. Student ambassadors from Longmont are expected to be with the foreign student ambassadors during their daily activities. You are welcome to join any of our activities.
We will provide information of the person you are hosting by the middle of July.
An evening meeting will be scheduled in July to give you additional information, to provide networking opportunities, and to include you in the student activities as your schedule permits.
Admission charges for your visitor are covered by LSCA for our scheduled activities. Your visitor should have their own money for personal expenses and souvenirs. For phone calls, you can expect them to offer money, use their credit card, or make a collect call.
